Summer ‘09

It’s basically here.

I have some pretty big plans for this summer/early fall and am really pumped about it all. Summer is the time for (in alphabetical order): baggin’ rays, baseball games, beer fests, Boulder, camping, concerts, cookouts, flings, gambooooool, great food (I think I could say this about every season), golfing, hiking, ladies, movies, outdoooooors, parties, pools, roo, running, sandals, shorts, skirts on those ladies!, trips, V, and probably even more other exciting things that I can grab out of the air right now.

nightrocks In the immediate future, some grad parties going on this weekend and on Saturday night, Flight of the Conchords with Iron and Wine @ Red Rocks. I’m really pumped for it.

I’m trying to figure out the specifics of some of the things that I want to do this summer and it’s currently looking like June 5th-14th is going to be booked. I think that there will be some Memorial day weekend shenanigans in the mix, and at least one camping trip coming up in the next two weeks. Speaking of camping! I have a very serious urge to do a lot of it this summer, in fact I think I’m going to end up getting a sweet tent and some other camping accessories and maybe running off into the woods for a while. There’s just something about the Colorado summer that really makes you want to spend as much time as you can outside, so we’ll see where this leads…

The Boulder farmer’s market opened up it’s Wednesday market last week and I think that I’m going to try to start doing a fresh dinner Wednesday nights with stuff from there. Try some new and interesting things at least. I picked up mint, basil, purple basil, and a flower pot last week, and although I can’t tonight, next week some artesian bread, CO beef, and fresh herb/veggie combo is probably in the works.

On the reading side of things, I’ve been running the slack train as usual. This is partly due to the fact that the Nuggets have been kicking so much ass in the playoffs that my free time is taken up with a lot of that, and I’ve been busy with some other things. But, it is time to get back on the horse and rip through some books. I have three that I’d really like to get finished up with in the next 2-3 weeks. About 650 pages to get through. Do it. Do it. Ha! I almost forgot, I did manage to get through one book, but to be fair, it was a 42 page e-book. That however does not detract from it’s awesomeness and it’s in a whole ‘nother category anyways.

Summer love.

I have a dream…

Super sweet video, I’d actually encourage everyone to listen to the whole speech sometime.

Things that please me.

Fringe.

New shows can always be wishy-washy, but I am rather pleased with how Fringe is turning out. Some of the sheer nonsensity of it aside, it is starting to come together as some really exciting television. With only 10 of the first season’s 22 episodes in the books, there is some pretty excellent groundwork laid down, and I’m pretty much hooked. JJ Abrams is well-versed in the art of drawing the viewer in searching for answers, but instead giving them just enough of a glimpse to spawn more questions.
Joshua Jackson, better known as Charlie Conway, does a remarkable job of keeping things at least mildly grounded in reality and tossing in a good amount of wit. Additionally, Olivia Dunham. Hot.
She is ambitious, driven, confident, sexy, and all the things that scream “independent woman” like 10,000 girls at a Beyonce concert.

Oh Olivia, you’re almost too good at what you do!

Dexter.
This season, while good, had yet to really come together. That was until the past 2 weeks. Things were humming along a steady pace, and then outta nowhere!! things went nuts! Martin Lawrence truly said it best, “Shit just got real.” It should be wrapping up in a few episodes and I am preparing to shit some bricks.
Chauncey.
Thank you.
DC HU Content.
(If you don’t know what I mean by this, don’t worry it)

A big shout out to Dogishead and Gman. This is some sick nasty for real shit. (aka I really appreciate the effort that you two have put in to make this series what it is.) It is alarmingly refreshing to see someone be able to dissect and teach in such a clear and concise way. A lot of love, and please keep it coming. Also, Snipes and bosoxx, you kids are doing some great shit too. I love all of it.
Pandora.

In case any of you still live in the stone age: Pandora.com is a free internet radio station site that allows you to create stations based on artists or songs that you like and will play music that is similar. You can thumbs up or thumbs down to fine tune your stations. It (usually) is really good about going through songs that you already know you like, and mixing in new music that you might like also.
Some sweet stations: “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love)”, The Killers, Vampire Weekend, and Sigur Ros (great for reading).
It continually impresses me with its selections (and therefore omissions) and the fact that something so sweet exists in the first place. Also, you can get it on your iPhone/Crackberry/ a few other phones.
The weekend awaits… I’m headed out tonight to some Xmas party in Boulder, should be good times.
